Premature Tire Wear

tire-wear

The most common pre mature tire wear signs are excessive shoulder wear, inner tread wear, or inner camber wear. What does this mean? How can you avoid it? Let’s look into the different more common reasons for these wear patterns.

1. IMPROPER INFLATION (PSI)

When a tire is improperly inflated, there is a good chance it will start to wear quicker and/or unevenly. When vehicle manufacturers specify the inflation pressures for for your vehicle, it is designed to optimize performance, improve comfort, handling, fuel economy and tire wear. Now that’s a lot to think about!

How can this be avoided? Have your tires checked by one of our service staff or technicians anytime, NO CHARGE!

2. WHEEL ALIGNMENT REQUIRED

A Wheel Alignment refers to the adjustment of the vehicle’s steering and suspension components. It is not an adjustment of the tires or wheels themselves. Improper tire alignment can cause your tires to wear unevenly and prematurely.

How can this be avoided? Make an appointment to have your alignment checked by one of our experienced technicians.

3. WORN/LOOSE STEERING OR SUSPENSION PARTS

Any worn out steering or suspension components can eventually pre maturely wear your tires inner or outer edges.

How can this be avoided? Our trained technicians can monitor all of your steering and suspension components during our complimentary inspection with routine maintenance.

Of course, there are other reasons your tires can wear out, but let’s save that for another Wednesday. For now, if you ever see any strange wear patterns on your tires, our technicians and front service staff will always be around to have a look!
